Child Dedication
Child Dedication is a promise you make as a parent to raise your child knowing who Jesus is, with the hope that one day they will trust and follow him
Parenting is the greatest and hardest job imaginable. You have amazing highs and are left completely exhausted, sometimes even in the same day. From education to doctor appointments, learning calculus, and how to share – our days are long. But the years are short. In the process of parenting, we want to make sure that we keep the main thing the main thing. And the main thing is their relationship with God. At Resonate, we are committed to helping you raise your children so that they know and trust God’s love, have an active relationship with Jesus, and are building shalom in the world around them.
Child Dedication is a step on this journey. It is your opportunity to commit yourself, your parenting, and your child to trusting and following Jesus. Also, it is our chance as a church to commit to you to pray for and support you as part of our family.
What's Next
If Child Dedication seems right for your family here's what's next:
3 Commitments You're Making
1) I commit myself to growing in my relationship with Jesus by engaging in a community of faith, being active in spiritual practices that shape my heart to love like Jesus, and practicing shalom building in my home and the world around me. Proverbs 16:3; Matthew 6:33
2) I commit to raising my child to know and love Jesus by demonstrating unconditional grace and love, engaging them in a community of faith, and supporting their spiritual journey as if it were my own. Colossians 3:17
3) I commit to asking for help and support in the process of parenting and growing spiritually. Recognizing that God has gifted needs to me that are meant to be met by others and himself, I will rely on the love and grace provided to me through the church. Romans 12:4; Galatians 6:2
3 Commitments We Are Making to You
1) We commit to aiding you in the process of growing spiritually and parenting your children. This means being attentive to your needs for an extra pair of hands, friendship, guidance, respite, and care. Romans 15:1; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
2) We commit to supporting you so that you can thrive as a parent and a follower of Jesus. This means creating an environment where you can thrive as a follower of Jesus and a parent, giving you the resources and opportunities to be successful at both. 1 Peter 5:2
3) We commit to covering you in prayer and protection as you parent and lead your children. We will pray for you often and lift you up as a regular part of our worship. Psalm 34:15; Philippians 1:9-11
